In the early eighties this part of the course was the original “Metal Tricks” program. I think this was a favorite because it included a bunch of lead guitar techniques that are simple to perform but sound impressive: vibrato, natural harmonics, pick harmonics, tremolo picking, two-hand tapping, bend tap combination, and a slide technique. The four-note lead explains how to play a melodic lead using only four notes.
One of the most important parts of this lesson is labeled "Lick-O-Matic." It teaches the importance of rhythmic diversity. This explains how to create your own series of endlessly diverse licks on the fly. If you're wondering why your leads all sound like scales, this is the answer. This information can make an amazing difference in your ability to improvise lead guitar.
